![]() There are many different categories of clouds within these but primarily clouds are named by shape and height. They vary in thickness, but as we know here in the UK they can be opaque enough to cause dreary days allowing for little light to pass through. Stratus clouds are formed in calm, stable conditions when gentle breezes raise cool, moist air over the colder land or ocean. Being the lowest lying cloud type they sometimes appear at the surface in the form of mist or fog. They’re a bit pesky and can hang around for long periods of time as.
